JJ's Bakery Longford
Many of our customers were fans of the French Bakery (Le Fournil): their breads have been sadly missed since the owners moved back to the mainland. No-one has really been able to provide a good substitute since their departure.Well Great News! Nathan from JJ's recently spent some time with Chris & Michelle at their new premises in Geelong and is now home, armed with their recipes and some of their sourdough starter. He is producing some great breads - dare we say the apprentice may well outdo the master???
These are really good breads: vienna or wholemeal sourdough, ciabatta, panini rolls, 7 Grain and an amazing olive loaf. All are great additions to our bread lineup and are available Monday to Friday.
Every Friday we will also be stocking Family size pies and quiches, individual quiche, & a range of cakes including mud cake, carrot cake, fruit cake and an excellent Dutch Ginger Cake.

IN STORE NOW!
Buffalo Cheese from Tasmania.
That's right! Tasmania now has its own buffalo - a small but expanding herd of at present 5 buffalo cows producing milk quickly snapped up by Launceston Cheesemakers Southern Sky Dairy. They produce the famous buffalo mozzarella and also a fetta, a haloumi and El Blanco (a melting cheese for pizza and quiches). We think they are equal in quality to any buffalo cheese we have tried to date.
Tasmanian Abalone
In a state where abalone is found in all coastal waters, it always surprises me how difficult it is to obtain here. The abalone industry exports nearly all of its catch, with only baby abalone farmed on the East Coast supplied to restaurants.
We have however, finally been able to source Tasmanian abalone. Each abalone has been slow cooked to guarantee tenderness and comes in a cryovac pack. So if you don't want to shell out for a recreational licence and don a wetsuit, here is a great alternative.
